WVTM-TV, Hearst NBC’s Birmingham affiliate, is looking for a Media Sales Manager, Media Reporter and News Producer.

WVTM-TV, the subsidiary of Hearst Television Al in Birmingham, is looking for a Multimedia Business Account Executive.

The Account Executive will be responsible for developing new business across all platforms – TV, Digital and Multicast.

As an Account Manager, you will be required to work both on-station and off-station making sales calls and/or visiting customers or potential customers.

In this hybrid position, you will meet with clients in person and have capabilities for zoom/video conferencing meetings as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Generate revenue and grow strategic business across all available platforms
  • Ensure that all revenue targets are met
  • Collaborate with other departments of the television station to ensure customer satisfaction

Qualification requirements:

  • Must be a team player, adaptable, results oriented and have a desire to learn
  • Ability to use interpersonal communication skills to develop client relationships, anticipate needs and negotiate
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; We will train on our proprietary software
  • Previous sales experience and/or customer service experience preferred
  • Military training and experience will be considered in lieu of sales experience
  • Must have a driver’s license with a good driving record

Job Responsibilities:

  • Select, research and write content for live newscasts to make the newscast an “experience” for viewers.
  • Work with and guide journalists in the production of stories.
  • Communicate, coordinate and execute a creative vision with a team of anchors, reporters, meteorologists, photographers, editors and production staff.
  • In-person attendance is required

Experience requirements:

  • 2 years of production experience.
  • Creative presentation style.
  • Experience in a newsroom, the ability to remain calm under pressure and knowledge of ENPS are assets.
  • Military experience in a related occupational specialty will be considered.

  • Excellent writing, spelling, grammar and editing skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Works with and guides journalists and producers in the production of newscasts
  • Regularly plans, gathers and assembles news day stories or special project assignments
  • Works with or without a photographer to gather and edit compelling video and captivating audio
  • Coordinates with news executives and producers to develop stories that go beyond surface detail, accentuate unique corporate angles and have exclusive content
  • Develops a network of sources that provide advice, quick access to information and enable the journalist to tell important stories.
  • Will help update images, videos and text on mobile platforms consistently throughout the day
  • Can juggle multiple stories and projects at once, demonstrates exceptional time management skills meeting all deadlines under extraordinary pressure.

Experience requirements:

  • Previous related experience (2-5 years) required
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake and discover
  • Your demo tape should be representative of your daily work
  • Related military experience will be considered

  • Ability to use mobile transmission devices and use the latest technologies
  • Can operate in all weather conditions and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Has a valid driver’s license, can drive large vehicles long distances and has a good driving record

Education:
