Azi Paybarah joins the Washington Post as a national political news reporter

We are thrilled to announce that Azi Paybarah is joining The Washington Post as a reporter for the National Political News Team.
Azi brings a wealth of political and current affairs experience. Since 2018, he has worked for the New York Times, most recently as a political bureau reporter. He wrote on candidate file backed by former President Donald Trump halfway through this year, Republican gun-centric adsthe 9/11 Families’ effort to challenge Trump over his Saudi-backed golf tournament and The false statements of Rudy Giuliani on the 2020 elections.
Prior to joining The Times, Azi co-founded the FAQ NYC podcast and covered New York politics for Politico New York, the New York Observer, and public radio WNYC. He was born in New York and graduated from the State University of New York at Albany. Azi, who married at a comic book store, loves graphic novels, bad puns and watching improv shows.
Azi, who starts Aug. 22, will move to Washington this fall, followed by his wife, Stephanie, and their dog, Porsche. Please join us in welcoming him.
