WTTG, Fox 5 DC and WDCA, Fox 5 Plus, Fox Affiliate, and Fox-owned MyNetworkTV stations in Washington, DC are seeking a Cross-Platform Content Director, News Producer, and Weather Reporter.

Fox 5 DC / Fox 5 Plus operates from state-of-the-art studios and facilities in the heart of downtown Bethesda, MD. Our studios deliver the most hours of news each week in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and surrounding areas with unmatched viewership and a digital footprint that continues to grow. The studios are surrounded by a restaurant scene featuring cuisines from around the world, high-end boutiques, outdoor markets and more! The Bethesda subway station is a short walk from work. We have an unprecedented opportunity for a cross-platform content director to join our Fox 5 community and oversee a progressive digital news team.

The leader we are looking for will be a champion of digital best practices who can lead a team to reach their highest potential.

They will strategically lead and inspire the team to scale local news across online platforms while encouraging creativity and divergent thinking.

Must be able to use data to determine content and broadcast decisions, and adapt to changing trends and industry developments.

Job Highlights:

  • Oversee Fox 5’s digital news team, website, social media and other digital platforms.
  • Monitor content and analytics on online platforms. Evaluate trends for day-to-day and long-term decisions.
  • Communicate digital goals and results to the digital team on a daily basis.
  • Establish clear expectations and lines of accountability. Maintain the team to the highest quality and journalistic standards.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Content Manager and News Director to provide feedback and guidance to help the station meet and exceed its goals.

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Over 8 years of content experience. 5+ years of leadership experience.
  • Exceptional News and Editorial Judgment.
  • Advanced knowledge of content management systems, social media platforms, live streaming, digital analytics tools, emerging digital technologies and SEO best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Friendly and collaborative spirit.

As a newscast producer, you must be passionate about local news and deliver exceptional television coverage to the market.

The ideal candidate will have a resourceful approach to presenting content and coming up with story ideas that can make an impact online, offline, and in person.

Job Highlights:

  • Responsible for day-to-day production activities for newscasts and assigned projects, from facilitating the newsgathering process to editorial decisions and post-production.
  • Develop authentic segments, write compelling stories, create recaps, edit scripts.
  • Work closely with executive producers, other producers, writers, presenters, reporters and the control room to ensure technically transparent newscasts.
  • Work closely with assignment office and field crews to coordinate live shots, assignments and provide graphics, video and logistical support.
  • Record and edit video for inclusion in scripts.
  • Coordinate with web/social team to ensure comprehensive coverage of all online and on-air news.
  • Actively participates in daily editorial, service and production meetings.

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in medium to large market information.
  • Strong judgment on news, strong writing skills, engaging storytelling skills and current knowledge.

The Fox5DC is looking for a Meteorologist to join our News and Weather team.

Candidates should have fully developed and honed anchoring, reporting and weather forecasting skills.

This position is for a very creative person with a passion for weather and reporting.

Must be able to demonstrate experience with live footage and coverage of major weather events.

Will work with producers to determine weather-related content for use on-air and online.

Job Highlights:

  • Will use forecasting knowledge and journalistic judgment to produce and present live coverage of weather reports and events on the news and on our digital platforms.
  • Must be a compelling storyteller who connects with his viewers.
  • Update daily weather charts and maps using information systems and equipment.
  • Research and generate story ideas to maximize news content.
  • Daily collaboration with the assignment office, producers, editors, photographers, technical production team and management.
  • Will make public appearances on behalf of Fox 5 and perform the duties of a GA reporter as needed.

What you need:

  • A bachelor’s degree in meteorology, journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 4+ years of live news experience. Major market experience strongly preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license and be able to drive.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Friendly and collaborative spirit.
