Job Summary/Description:

WBKO is looking for a driven, innovative and aggressive Evening News Producer. The qualified candidate will be looking for fresh and interesting content that grabs the attention of our audience. The producer must be a creative writer and meticulous fact checker. We are looking for producers who are naturally curious, enjoy working in a team, thrive in the search for truth and want to support a local community. Please note that the duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to what is stated.

What we expect from you:

  • Produce one or more TV news daily
  • Stack the recap and manage the live stream from the control room
  • Write and edit articles for assigned newscasts and assist other producers as needed
  • Respond quickly and aggressively to breaking news and spread information
  • Contribute to story ideas and work closely with journalists to execute ideas
  • Writing assistance for digital and social media platforms
  • Edit video for newsletters as needed

  • Strong writing experience
  • Proficiency in the production of newsletters desired. Training will be provided
  • Strong judgment of news
  • High-level understanding of journalist ethics
  • Enjoy a fast-paced environment with a desire to win
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Positive attitude and ability to help coach and mentor other team members
  • Drug screening and MVR verification required
