97.9 WHAV is Greater Haverhill’s only public radio station and a local non-profit news service. It offers a rare opportunity to join a respected and growing regional news operation, on air and online.
Successful candidates must demonstrate natural curiosity, objectivity, reliability, willingness to learn, and commitment to accuracy. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field, reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license, strong ethics, excellent English spelling and grammar, working knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style, ability to work well and quickly under pressure of deadlines, proficiency in Microsoft Word, strong computer skills and above average attention to detail.
The job involves broadcasting nightly meetings live, recording audio, editing clippings and writing stories. Technical training will be provided.
Work in television, radio, newspapers, or college literary publications will be considered experience.
