Police recover DBC News producer’s slaughtered body in Hatirjheel

Abdul Bari’s body was found near the Police Plaza shopping center on Hatirjheel Link Road around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Gulshan Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Sheikh Shahanur Rahman said.
The 28-year-old was working as a news producer for the private television channel.
“Wound marks were seen on Bari’s neck and stomach. A mobile phone, wallet, shoes and a knife were found next to the body,” Inspector Sheikh said.
Bari lived near the DBC News office in the Mohakhali Wireless Gate area. Rajib Ghosh, chief correspondent of DBC News, said Tuesday was Bari’s weekly bank holiday.
“We learned this morning from the police that Bari had been murdered.”
According to DBC News, a group of street children found Bari’s body lying by the lake in the morning and notified the police.
Deputy Commissioner Nazmul Hasan Firoz of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Gulshan Division said: “He was believed to have been stabbed for the first time. He jumped into the lake to escape. After getting on the ground, the assailants pinned him to the ground and slit his throat.
Police have yet to make any arrests in connection with Bari’s death, but have launched an investigation into the incident, according to Firoz.
