Sky News wins News Channel of the Year at the RTS Television Journalism Awards

Sky News won News Channel of the Year for the fifth consecutive year at the Royal Television Society Television Journalism Awards 2022 last night.

The organization, hailed for its data journalism and coverage of climate change, won two more awards overnight. Dean Massey won Cameraman of the Year for his ‘composition, color and innovative footage production skills’, while Sky News’ Live climate from COP26 received the News Technology award for its use of technology in “ambitious and original ways”.

Announcing the Channel of the Year award, the RTS jury said; “The jury agreed that the winning channel – while doing its normal good job of reporting breaking news – had been particularly innovative in other ways. Its focus on data journalism and dedicated coverage of climate change stood out in particular. brands”.
